Day 269

Today was a nice Fall day, not too hot and we all know Mama loves that! Well, Penelope slept in this morning, 8:30, so that was nice!! We stuck close to home until P had her nap, and it turned out to be a nice, long one! :) I took that opportunity to clean up last night's and this morning's mess. And, I may have sat on our front room chair and dozed for a few... That might have happened. ;) Later we got ready and went to the Scarecrow Festival-- big yawn!! Not very cool, but that's okay... Maybe next year will be better, I was informed that this was it's first year, so.... Yeah. We got to get some fresh air and walk around some, so that was good. Later, Penelope and I had dinner and began to play, but she was so tired and cranky before 7pm, I ended up putting her to sleep early-- 6:15ish. Our baby is sleeping so well now, though, I am just so thankful for that. She is also walking a LOT more-- whenever I put her down for playtime (I may be cleaning, doing dishes, cooking, etc) she is just walking around and around! I have to be careful now to keep our bedroom and bathroom doors closed, too many ways to get in trouble in there! I let her walk around alone, but if she stays somewhere, I'll either go to her or have her come back so I can keep an eye on her. No reason to take chances!! :) Also, P is starting to mimic us. I'll shake my head "no", and she'll do it! I am trying to teach her simple words, and it's slowly coming. :) Our baby will be a year old in a matter of days, and she is just becoming the cutest, sweetest, smartest and most fun kid! We're so proud of her. 

I'm due in 3 weeks, 5 days. Can't wait. Cannot. Wait. That is all. :)

Day 268

Well, it was just us girls today, and we had a good one. We were up early, ad had out usual morning. I have been making it a point to bring back the morning nap, and so at 10:45 or so, I put P back down. She didn't sleep very long, but I suspect it's because I fell asleep with her (giving her her milk) and so she wasn't alone in her crib. I think I grunted or something, and she woke up... So, that was Mama's fault! Later, we went out for some Halloween decorations, and found some really cute stuff! I had planned for us to walk down to Fairview Park to the Scarecrow Festival after P's second nap (which was also short, but that was her choice). We got our sweaters on, I made a hot drink and we headed down... We got there and it was over for the day. :/ I guess we'll try earlier tomorrow!

That's all for today. Here's a pic of Penelope eating her breakfast, and then she's playing with the egg carton we got earlier... Yes, we are actually buying eggs now that the chickens are on strike. Hmph. :/

Day 267

Today was a good day-- Penelope spent the morning with her Daddy while Mama checked out a consignment super sale... found our quickly growing girl some fall sweaters and pants. Later, we got Penelope's 1-year photos taken at JC Penny! :) We had discussed the idea once before, but just decided on a whim to do it. We made the appointment one day in advance, so we didn't have a lot of time to think about expectations. That's probably a good thing-- we just brought a well rested, happy baby in and she took some great pics! The photographer cast a spell on her (she must have) because P let herself be posed like a little doll, and we got many poses in three different outfits, and with a few different props. I think it was a success!!! We are so proud of our baby, how we'll she did, and how she gave us all her best smiles. :) The photographer wanted to put her pic in her portfolio, she liked the shots so much! That's our girl, being so charming wherever she goes!

We stuck close to home after that, and We just kind of hung out together. We'll say bye-bye to Daddy again tomorrow, but we'll miss him a lot. It's been nice having him home so much. That's all for today, folks. Here are some pics.... Night!

Day 266

Wow... 266 days of this blog... Wow! :) I have to say, this blog is written by myself, but Thomas always helps me by reminding me to "do the blog!", and those nights when I've fallen asleep before writing it, he's never been here! Just saying-- it's a team effort! 

Today we slept in: 8:30!! It felt great-- and we may have slept even longer if Daddy hadn't come in at that time. P woke up from his and my noise :/ but, we thought we had a busy day lined up. We ate, and got ready for our weekly playgroup at Canyon Park, but it was cancelled last minute due to lots of runny baby noses and coughs too. Then, Daddy's morning meeting at school was cancelled (due to sickness, too), so we enjoyed time at home together instead. 

We went to the park this afternoon so P could go on the swings-- Vista Park. She had a good time, see all our pics! Daddy had school tonight, so we don't eat dinner together on school nights. Me and Penelope usually eat together, play, take a bath (not always) and get ready for bed. She's been sleeping like a champ, always a good solid 8-10 hours before I change & feed her, then another 2-3. We are over the moon about it, but know all this wonderful sleep will soon be a memory. Sigh.... Newborns are awesome! ;) On that note, I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant, and have a little less than a month to go. We're scheduled for a c-section on November 8th at 9:30 am. That is, if I don't go into labor on my own, earlier. The way I've been feeling, I wouldn't hate it if that happened! Maybe not this early, but earlier would be just fine in my book! We haven't chosen a name yet, but have daily discussions about it... We'll come up with something good! All our lives are about to become turned upside down pretty soon, and we cannot wait!!!!! :)

Day 265

What a nice chilly, rainy fall day! :) I live this kind of weather... I took Penelope outside to feel the rain and wind, and I think she likes it too! She loves the wind on her face, we've always known that, so maybe she'll be a cold-weather-lover like Mama. ;)

We stuck close to home today, though, because of the weather. I so badly wanted to build a fire, but knowing me, the house would be aflame in minutes, so.... :/  I did make us some comfort food: Mac n' cheese, pumpkin bread, hot cocoa (just for me, not P!), and just stated cozy inside. P does tend to go a little cabin feverish after a whole day indoors, so we did run to TJ Maxx, but that's it. Oh, also, baby girl got to see Mana, and they had their weekly walk early. Mana came at 8:30 am, and they enjoyed a cool morning walk. P showed off her walking skills, and was very proud. :)

That's it for today. I'll share some baby pics of us, Gayle brought me some of Thomas' baby pics-- so so cute! I'd never seen any pics of my hubby as a baby, so it's a treat.

Day 264

Well, it was our last day of Papa being home for 8 days in a row... It was nice while it lasted! :) We'll actually be seeing him again day after tomorrow, so we're good. 

This morning, after Daddy took P on a walk, she and I went to Waterworks for swim class. She did awesome!!! Our teacher was impressed by her floating (one hand under her head, the other under her back), her ability to hold her breath when going under water, and how she walked across the floating plank during an exercise-- I was amazed, too! She just seemed to have gotten it after so many classes, and I don't take her every week like I should. :/ In any case, we'll have 2 or 3 more beginner classes, then switch to intermediate... Yikes!!!! I'm nervous! :) She'll do great, I know it, she's like her Daddy: "I can do it" about anything.

That's about all to report for today. Oh, Penelope is really trying to walk a lot more now, practicing all the time and getting better! She may be a sturdy walker by her birthday in a little over a week! :) She loves it, too. She'll walk across the room, smiling as big as she can, knowing she's doing something really neat... So so cute!

Day 263

Today went by in a flash... We woke up, did a walk, I prepared P & I to go to swim class but she was too cranky, so she took a nap instead. We went to do an errand, and when we came home, it was already time for another nap!! :) We woke baby love up at 5pm, walked to Avila's for dinner-- Penelope ate rice, beans & cheese and tomato, loved it! :) We walked home, and wouldn't you know, it was already time for bed!! These are the good days, when we don't have to be anywhere, can just nap when we please, and get into be at 7:30 pm. Love it! :) Daddy goes back to work on Wednesday, but will be back home for a couple days right after that, yay! It's just so nice to have him home, feels like a mini vacay! :)
