Day 273

Happy first birthday, Penelope!!! Our baby is one year old, it's amazing to me that we survived this last year! She's been an absolute doll, but we were beginners who knew close to nothing about what it's really like raising a child. We were in shock from that first night we had her in the hospital-- but I think we found a stride (even though P didn't really like sleeping at night, at first) and did alright. I'll never forget all the stages we went through with our little angel.... Through all the inexperience and awkward trial & error, we always had the biggest love for our baby, right from the start. She has brought the two of us unimaginable joy, laughter and pure awe, just with a smile. She has made our house a real home, and the two of us better people, I think, just wanting to be the best we can be for her. Who knew having a child could change life so so much??? Well, our little girl has in her one year with us, and we are so thankful she's who she is.

Today we were up before the chickens, and when Daddy got home (he brought P flowers!), we had breakfast and got ready for playgroup. It was a nice turnout today, and even met a few new moms & kids. Penelope and I made a supermarket run afterward, and then spent the rest of the day hanging out at home with Papa, before he had to leave for class. (By the way, Penelope, your Daddy talks about you often in his classroom, and his students have seen your pic :)) We lie down together before bed and cuddled, and I've gotta say, I LOVE that half hour of the day so much. P is tired enough that she lets me hug, cuddle and kiss her as much as I want! My angel... :)

Tomorrow we have our little pizza party for baby girl, and we are looking forward to it. Too bad Mama was so focused on making a good birthday cake, that I forgot to save a little batter for P's "smash cake". We'll just let her go to town on a slice of the big cake. :)

Here's  few pics from today... Two show P in a cranky mood after her last nap. :/ Goodnight! And happy birthday to the sweetest thing under the moon, our baby Penelope Frances. Mommy & Daddy love you so much!!
